Why Self-hypnosis?
Self-hypnosis in itself can provide great benefits if practised regularly.
The depth of trance tends to be lighter than those of assisted hypnosis, but its importance
is just as relevant, especially as a reinforcer of therapy.
The more you take time to practise, the faster and better the outcome will be.
Self-practise allow suggestions to be
absorbed and reaffirmed by the unconscious mind and is an essential part of hypnotherapy.
There are many ways to practise self-hypnosis. The basic steps are provided below and
ideally should be practised as often as possible:
- Find a quiet place for 5-15 minutes and make yourself comfortable
- Tell yourself that you are going to do self-hypnosis
- Close your eyes
- Begin to quiet your mind by taking a few deep breaths
- Slowly count down from ten to one in your head. Relaxing any tension you may have with each number.
- Give yourself one simple, positive suggestion. Always phrase your suggestions in the positive sense.
- When you are ready to wake up, begin to slowly count up from one to ten becoming more alert again with each number.
- Open your eyes
